3 Reasons to Choose the Zebra ET50 / ET55 for Your Next Mobile Deployment

Device Reviewed: ET50PE-G15E-00US (8.3" HD, Android 5.1.1, 1.7GHz Quad Core 1.59GHz, 4GB/64GB, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, 2 MP Front / 8MP Rear Camera, NFC) - View Full Specs

What we like about it:

  • Major improvement over ET1 and available in 8.3” and 10.1” Models.
  • Runs our TracerPlus software without issue and good overall device performance/speed.
  • Lots of features (Front and Rear Camera, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, High Resolution Display, 5900mAh Battery).
  • Rugged tablet in a consumer tablet form factor. Protective boot can be added to further enhance its ruggedization.
  • Lots of accessories available to make the tablet easy to carry, more rugged and add enterprise class barcode scanning.

What we didn't like about it:

  • File Browser app not included by default on our model. Not sure if this is in all models or just the one we have. Had to sign into to google play to download 3rd part file manager app. This shouldn’t be an issue if you are able to install apps from Google play and don’t need ability to browse file system on device.
  • At $1845.00 MSRP, this device is more expensive than we would like to see based on what is offered.

Notes:

  • Drop down data not deploying via MTP method and requires use of Web Deploy. This is due to Android File System refresh issue in Windows. Drop Downs can be deployed using web deploy or syncing with TracerPlus Connect.
  • For_Import folder not accessible and Exported folder not always showing up in Windows Explorer when device is connected. As above, this is related to the Android File System refresh issue. Dat acan be synced successfully with TracerPlus Connect and is recommended for seamless data syncing.

Summary

The Zebra ET50 Android Tablet is a major improvement over the previous ET1 offering the features you need for the rugged enterprise, while still being lightweight and not bulky. It sports a pretty extensive feature list including a fast 1.33 GHz Quad Core Processor, NFC, Wi-Fi, GPS and front/rear cameras. TracerPlus looks and runs very smooth on this device. We would recommend this device to anyone looking for a rugged tablet for enterprise applications inside the 4 walls.
