Motorola Enterprise Mobility Solution Helps Ce De Candy Improve Manufacturing Operations

March 6, 2007 - HOLTSVILLE, N.Y., March 6 PRNewswire-FirstCall -- Motorola, Inc. (NYSE: MOT) and PartnerSelect Solution Provider Portable Technology Solutions (PTS) today announced that Ce De Candy Inc., manufacturer and distributor of SMARTIES(R), the classic sugar candy line, has implemented an enterprise mobility solution to meet the FDA's new Food Bioterrorism regulation while also increasing the efficiency and accuracy of manufacturing processes throughout its supply chain and warehouse.

The FDA regulation required that food manufacturers maintain records that allow complete traceability for all raw goods and manufactured products by June 2006. To meet the critical mandate, Ce De implemented a mobility solution consisting of the Motorola MC9000 rugged mobile computer running PTS's TracerPlus software, as well as the Motorola WS5100 Wireless Switch, AP300 Access Ports and the ES3000 with Power over Ethernet (PoE) Switch. The solution was configured to existing processes at Ce De Candy within one week, with full deployment being finalized within the following four weeks.
